Holiday Shopping

131007080313_Twitter turkeyI’m finished shopping.  Done.  Why? Because crazy as it sounds, Hanukkah is over as of last night.  The first night of Hanukkah this year came on Thanksgiving.  Hanukkah is based on the Hebrew calendar and often it comes much earlier than Christmas, or sometimes during Christmas.  We’re used to celebrating at odd times.  But this is  an extremely rare convergence of the two holidays!  “The last time it happened was 1888, or at least the last time since Thanksgiving was declared a federal holiday by President Lincoln, and the next time may have Jews lighting their candles from spaceships 79,043 years from now, by one calculation.” (Fox News). I’m sure you saw the crazy graphics and “new words” on Facebook and the news.  Thanksgivukkah and Gobble Tov? No? Good. I hated them. :headbang:

My point wasn’t to give you a history lesson, I promise.  Or to teach you about the Jewish holidays.  It’s only to say, I AM FINISHED SHOPPING! Are you?

What are you Reading?

Throughout this new Indie author experience, I have met some AWESOME new people.  Violet Duke is a fabulous author. I’ve read her entire NICE GIRL TO LOVE serial trilogy (Resisting the Bad Boy, Falling for the Good Guy, and Choosing the Right Man) and then the spinoff, FINDING THE RIGHT GIRL.  I HIGHLY recommend them all.  There’s humor, emotion, and heat! Yes, the first three are a serial (cliff-hangers to tell the story) but they’re unusual – and special.  At least I think so!  So WHAT ARE YOU READING?

Dare to Love Release Day

CarlyPhillips_DareToLove_200x300 DARE TO LOVE — IAN

Dare to Love Series Book # 1

ON SALE NOW at all ONLINE OUTLETS

“Dare to Love is one of my favorite reads this year.” HM ward, author of NYT best selling series The Arrangement.

New York Times Bestselling Author Carly Phillips turns up the heat in her newest sexy contemporary romance series, and introduces you to the Dare family… siblings shaped by a father’s secrets and betrayal.

He will do anything to possess her …

Since finding out his father had another family on the side, Ian Dare swore to be the upstanding, responsible man his cheating parent had never been. When it comes to his relatives, he gives his all but in relationships he offers the bare minimum. But one glimpse of sensual Riley Taylor arouses his dominant and protective instincts and Ian is entranced. He will do anything to possess her … and does. But any future with Riley must include him extending an olive branch to the half-brother who is a constant reminder of the pain he’d rather forget.

Independent and always in control, Riley Taylor makes no apologies for choosing men carefully. Relationships have never been a priority and she believes herself hardened to domineering men – until she meets charismatic Ian Dare. He manages to turn a simple kiss into an all out assault on her senses and when he takes control in the bedroom, she’s stunned to discover she likes it. As their affair heats up, they soon realize they complete each other in ways neither imagined. But Riley’s past is closer than she cares to remember, and her struggles with Ian’s dominance might just cost her everything.

Countdown to Dare to Love

CarlyPhillips_DareToLove_200x3004 days and counting. I’m so so excited. Big things are planned. Big things! Like a huge blog tour across the Internet. An exciting giveaway with a Grand Prize and other runner up prizes. A call-in radio interview on Tuesday night where we’re giving away prize packs. I’ll post all the fun information here on Monday. We will set DARE TO LOVE to go live late Saturday night. Given the craziness of each website, we’re hoping that will allow for a Monday release everywhere. Again, links will be posted here, and of course on my website, Facebook page and Twitter. You can also search and find yourself … timing is anyone’s guess. Fingers crossed! We’ve shared a lot here at Plotmonkeys, so I can ask you all to help me out and know you’ll understand. I need to spread the word about this book. If you read it and if you love it, please please please share those feelings on Amazon, BN.com, Goodreads, Twitter and Facebook.

A TINY TEASER:

Using all the willpower he had, he straightened his shoulders and stepped away first.  “Come to the stadium tomorrow morning and ask for Olivia Dare.  My sister will find the appropriate fit for you with the organization.”

“I can’t take charity.” She folded her arms across her chest.  In her defensive stance, he saw the secrets that Alex knew.

The ones that held the key to understanding this complicated woman.  Before he was finished, he intended to know her inside and out.

He remained apart, giving her space.  “It’s not charity when I owe you for not returning your call.  It’s not nepotism, favoritism, or any other ism you might come up with either.”

She pursed her lips, obviously wavering.

His gaze lingered on her mouth, the desire to take it overwhelming, but he refrained.  “You were willing to call me and ask me to do business with you.  Consider this a similar opportunity.  If you can’t do the job, you’re out on your ass, the same as anyone else.”  He gave her the honest truth.  He wouldn’t keep her on the payroll if she couldn’t perform.

“So? What will it be?”

In the ensuing silence, all the possible things Ian wanted to do to her, with her, passed in front of his eyes until he was convinced she’d say no.

“I’ll be there in the morning,” she finally said, extending her hand for him to shake.

Finally, he thought, grasping her smaller fingers in his.  A jolt of awareness ricocheted through him.

Her slight gasp told him she’d felt it too.

He raised a hand and brushed his thumb over her lower lip.  Her eyes widened, and her mouth parted in surprise.  Warm breath fluttered over his finger, and the sensation went straight to his groin.

He slid his hand over her cheek, cupping her jaw in his palm.

“You do things to me,” he murmured, grazing her soft skin with his thumb.

She swallowed hard, her heavy-lidded gaze never leaving his.  “You do the same to me.”

Victory was sweet, but when he eased his mouth over hers, he remembered that she tasted even sweeter.  He kissed one corner of her mouth then the other, enjoying the simple act of teasing her, her body’s trembling reaction providing so much satisfaction.

He nipped her lower lip, and she curled her fingers tighter against his waist.

Her possessive grip only inflamed his desire.  “I want you, Riley.  I want to feel myself hard and hot inside you,” he said, nipping her lower lip.

She moaned, swaying toward him.  He caught her, wrapping an arm around her waist, turning the light kiss into a deeper one.  Her tongue slid back and forth over his, her soft sighs rocking him to his core.

Somehow he maintained some sliver of rational thought, and with it came the knowledge that no matter how willing she seemed to be, any further and she’d convince herself to run.  She’d withdraw before they tested just how good things between them could be.

So before he could act on impulse and take her against the wall, on her couch, or in her bed, he released her.  Steadied her.  Gave her a light kiss on the cheek, said good night, and walked out the door.

He’d convinced her to come to his turf.  For now, that had to be enough.

Love 146 – Social Media Campaign

It’s my pleasure to welcome LIMECELLO from the fabulous www.tartsweet.com blog. Lime, as we know her, has been a plotmonkey friend for years.  Last year I highlighted her social media week for another charity. It’s my pleasure to do so again! What a worthwhile cause. Welcome, Lime!

Hello Everyone!

First of all I’d like to thank Carly, and all of you for allowing me to invade this space today! I’ve been visiting Plotmonkeys for years, but these days I’m more a lurker than anything. :X

I’m here to talk about something very near and dear to me. Every year on Make a Difference Day I kick off my Social Media for Social Good charity fundraiser. We’re in our fourth year, and each year I research different topics and charities. This year I chose Love 146, which is a non-profit organization that works to prevent child human trafficking, and provide aftercare for victims.

You can read more information on the “official blog post” here: www.tartsweet.com/2013/10/26/smsg13-we-can-help-stop-human-trafficking

I’m highlighting that post because this is where the Social Media aspect comes in. I know times are tough. Any amount you can give would be amazing, be it $1, $5, whatever. However, I know sometimes it’s hard to budget anything – but guess what? Even a comment on the charity post at ALBTALBS raises money. We have people who pledged donations based on the number of comments we get. (And would love for you to join us!)

If you feel you are able to donate, that would be amazing. You can click through the widget

But if nothing else, we really hope you’ll go and leave a comment. Studies have shown two children are sold every minute. So every little bit counts. I know the romance community is amazing, and I’d love to see us come together and make a difference.

Thanks for your time!
