Stacia Leigh grew up in Montana's Flathead Valley and knows a thing or two about driving a stick and chasing chickens. She currently resides in the PNW with a couple rescue mutts, two artists, and one very special computer nerd.

She's won first, second and third place in PNWA's annual literary contest for the short story, children's chapter, and young adult categories. Her debut novel, Dealing with Blue, was a finalist for the 2016 Nancy Pearl Book Award.

She enjoys writing what she loves to read, a flirty romance that's light on the angst and heavy on the fun.

If I stall out while writing, I try a couple different things:
1.) Change the scene into another character's perspective. What are their motives? Where do they take the story?
2.) Write some backstory on the side to help me understand history and motivations.
3.) Sleep with the story questions on my mind and, fingers crossed, wake up with some clarity.
4.) Read about writing.
5.) Write right through it.(less)

Add a sequence...this goes here, that goes there. Change things around to find the right fit. It's like a puzzle. Click the pieces together and a story happens. Set aside the border pieces, find the pattern, and discover another world. Keep building! It's very satisfying to see it all come together.(less)

"Goofy poem book with fun illustrations. Most of the poems are rude or gross and they're all offbeat and I think a certain type of kid will love them. Any humorless troll with no capacity to identify with children who seriously thinks their kid will g" Read more of this review »

Slovenly Peter by Mark Twain
"As an exercise in translation (or rather as an exercise in what one should call a pretty free and with that in mind a mildly adapted and slighlty altered rendering), Mark Twain's Slovenly Peter is certainly both interesting and amusingly entertaining" Read more of this review »

“By the way, isn't zest a wonderful word? In our careful world, 'feeling just OK' seems to be the new normal. I want zest, dammit. Zest, joy, and ferocious awareness.”

“I must not fear. Fear is the mind-killer. Fear is the little-death that brings total obliteration. I will face my fear. I will permit it to pass over me and through me. And when it has gone past I will turn the inner eye to see its path. Where the fear has gone there will be nothing. Only I will remain.”
Frank Herbert, Dune
