Stacia Leigh grew up in the Flathead Valley and is a graduate of Montana State University. She currently resides in the Seattle area with two cherrier-huahua mutts, two voracious readers, and a Star Wars nerd.

She won second place in the 2013 PNWA Literary Contest for the Children's Chapter genre and was a finalist for Young Adult in 2015 and 2016. Her debut novel, Dealing with Blue, was a finalist for the 2016 PNWA Nancy Pearl Book Award.

She enjoys writing what she loves to read, a flirty romance that's light on the angst and heavy on the fun.

If I stall out while writing, I try a couple different things:
1.) Change the scene into another character's perspective. What are their motives? Where do they take the story?
2.) Write some backstory on the side to help me understand history and motivations.
3.) Sleep with the story questions on my mind and, fingers crossed, wake up with some clarity.
4.) Read about writing.
5.) Write right through it.(less)

Add a sequence...this goes here, that goes there. Change things around to find the right fit. It's like a puzzle. Click the pieces together and a story happens. Set aside the border pieces, find the pattern, and discover another world. Keep building! It's very satisfying to see it all come together.(less)

Blackout Poetry Book Pile

Blackout Poetry Books
I interrupt my June Reading Challenge to introduce a stack of blackout poetry books. I've been asked to teach a 5th grade class next week on how to make a #blackoutpoem and ordered some books to share, mine included. Big thanks to @fade.into.a.blackout for the teaching notes and the great read: Finding Light in the Darkness by Michael Nyers. I also particularly loved A Won... Read more of this blog post »

Stacia Leigh and 4 other people liked Kasandra's review of Newspaper Blackout:
Newspaper Blackout by Austin Kleon
" Newspaper Blackout by Austin Kleon

Kleon's debut is a collection of found poetry from the pages of The New York Times. It's gotten rave reviews and been featured on NPR and in The New Yorker, so clearly he's appealing to a wide audience with his work. He "blacks out" the words he..." Read more of this review »

Stacia Leigh and 8 other people liked Jennie Louwes's review of Mask:
Mask by Nicholas Bizov
"The "Mask" is a poem. It's meant to be read slowly and more than once.

I sat with it. I thought about it. I gave it a 3 star rating for effort. For sharing what's personal and yet not personal enough.

It's not in depth honesty regarding trials and..." Read more of this review »
The Stairway To The Top by Nicholas Bizov
"The cover design, along with the book's description, are well thought out and align. The basis, for what was written and shared, is a solid one to derive inspiration from; however, this brief read was just okay at best.

Anyone can self publish but..." Read more of this review »
