Are they really splitting up again? Why are they always making such stupid decisions? Why did they even travel to this time? It doesn't make sense.

Look, I love these characters and the concept of this series but I'm so tired of Harte and Esta constantly being focused on each other's lips and thinking about kissing each other when they have more important STUFF TO GET DONE

For someone who claims to not have paid attention in class, Britt remembers an awful lot or details even without Google’s help. More than most kids would.

A classic says something about life. Makes the reader think. Tells one particular person’s story but makes you feel like it could be about anyone, anywhere.

This whole book is like a dream trip. England AND a literary scavenger hunt??? I wish!

Yeah I'm skimming most of this and just picking out the important tidbits. He uses WAY too many mythological/ancient story examples (which I get because this book was written so long ago that there wasn't much else to use but it's just one too many examples every chapter).

I’m getting tired of this back and forth between these two. If they could just TALK to each other and explain what they’re thinking and saying then maybe they’d understand each other despite the 100 year age gap

Abel???? I don’t like this time difference and getting hints in 1904 of what might happen to the characters in 1902. They better go back and fix everything like Esta wants

I'm sorry but this is just too over the top ridiculous for me. I cannot with how dumb these characters act about everything instead of just talking to each other. Are all adult romance books like this?

Since I've read The Writer's Journey, I figured I should probably read this too even if Volger summarized a lot of it.

Yeah I skipped and skimmed the appendices and some of his example films for the Hero's Journey since I'm not familiar with them and some aspects weren't relevant for my purpose behind rereading this book.

But take hope, for writing is magic. Even the simplest act of writing is almost supernatural, on the borderline with telepathy. Just think: We can make a few abstract marks on a piece of paper in a certain order and someone a world away and a thousand years from now can know our deepest thoughts. The boundaries of space and time and even the limitations of death can be transcended.

Okay but how is there more than a hundred pages of this book left? I’m just waiting for unnecessary drama to drop

Love the idea of this for story structure and definitely think it works but man I wish he used movies and references that I understand. So many of his movie examples are so old. I understand using classic stories like mythology and fairy tales but I need a revised version with movies that came out after 2010.

The concept for this is so weird

I didn't really enjoy Inkheart enough to care about finishing this series but Brendan Fraser narrates the audiobook for Inkspell so I thought I might as well give it a chance.
