OMG... This book is too long, boring and predictable with characters as exciting as a flat line. Seriously... Normally books this long are entertaining, at least a bit. This one?? Haha, NO. For fun, you'd have a better chance watching paint dry. It would be faster too

“I’m okay. But why the hell did you come here? Ashton, I can’t see this, I can’t! This is the only thing I can’t cope with. I sent you away so this wouldn’t happen! Why did you do this to me?” I” Yes, bitch the guy out for risking his life to save you. What a wonderful idea. Not selfish at all.

Do yourself a favor and skip all pages until Carter gets back into the action. This is so freakin boring.

Seriously, how much can the pseudo romance drag on? It's getting very repetitive and fell on its face quite a while back. At this point, I'm just flipping pages with the occasional skim. Why am I even reading this???????????????

Seriously... Is it possible AT ALL for Ana or Ashton to not look like god and goddess models for ONE PAGE? I'm starting to get fucking tired with their damn physical perfection.

*sigh*. Ashton looked a lot more 3D in the beginning of the book. Half way through, he looks about as exciting as a rock with the personality of varying paint. Urgh, can Carter please have some action? He's a grade A asshole, but at least it would make the book worthwhile. If he doesn't, I'm dropping this book.

Children who don't feel that they "own" their lives, children for whom feelings, thoughts, and actions come from outside as much as they come from inside, are at risk for being easily manipulated by others.

What children really need is to be educated about the values of perseverance and perspective, and to understand that learning and performance are by always the same thing.

Internal motivation is the generator that propels Holstein to figure out their particular interests, abilities and passions. External motivation strips leaning of excitement, since what is most valuable is not the learning experience per se but whatever perks accompany it.

Using money as a motivator models materialism to the child and it schools them in a strategy if relying on others rather than on themselves to make changes in their lives. The more desperate we feel about needing to use rewards to reinforce compliance, the less likely it is to be successful.

Because advertising is designed to first make us feel insecure and then solve our insecurity by offering products, it is particularly problematic for adolescents, who already feel terribly insecure.

Heavily dependent on their "public" success for a sense of self, many of these youngsters have little in the way of authentic purpose in their lives, leaving a void where conscience, generosity and connection should be.

It is when a parent's love is experienced as CONDITIONAL on the achievement that children are at risk for serious emotional problems. Their inevitable missteps activate intense feelings of shame and hopelessness.

Research shows that parents' emphasis on achievement is linked to the children's maladaptive perfectionist strivings (perfectionism that impairs functioning - the child who throws up because he's anxious about a test) is highly correlated with depression and suicide. WHEN PARENTS PLACE AN EXCESSIVELY HIGH VALUE ON OUTSTANDING PERFORMANCE, CHILDREN COME TO SEE ANYTHING LESS THAN PERFECTION AS FAILURE.
