It got pretty abstract & vague, kinda need specific instances, it’s like he is trying to write for the future, with generalizations & terminology

This is a tiny book—one hundred pages, mostly in casual dialogue form (lectures)

Totally not gonna finish this, I read like a third grader…and it’s super long. But where there is an interest there is a way, and I AM interested in the novelist.

Shaping up to be top-notch read on Food! Highly informative, supremely relevant stuff, and it maintains a connection from history (and our ancestors) to today.

Much to be learned from this one. Love the approach: Connecting food to evolution & demographics. Like, describing symbiosis between Food & Humans. Can't help but think of how quickly & unquestioningly folks digest (inject) stuff into their bodies without any consideration for their own unique genetic dispositions...as if all human bodies respond uniformly & safely to a food or a drug (or a vaccine...)

IDK when Varley writes about sexual scenes & mores it never feels pervy. I think he was ahead of his time in the whole free-love thing, and he touches upon sexual desire in a very humane way, nothing flashy or smutty (unlike old school SF writers, IDK, maybe Heinlein or Jack Williamson or whoever kinda was old & pervy-ish with how they depicted women & sex scenes)

Whew this guy wrote alot of memoirs. But he unsurprisingly isn’t shabby as a writer, for hos time, very imaginative
