"Significantly, feminist professors, unlike most non-feminist Black Studies professors, were much more innovative and progressive in their teaching styles."

Why? What caused this?

"As a girl I had initially believed white teachers who told me we did not read black authors because they had not written any books or any good books."

YIKES.

xii – "Even dense books, which are not terribly full of jargon, are hard for tired working people to plough through, selecting the parts that could contain meaningful material." <3

3b: Most of the language in this book is pretty easy for me. There's a fair amount that's in Spanish, but the author does a really good job of giving enough context clues that I can figure out what's going on when I don't know the words. And since I studied Spanish in high school, it's actually kind of fun to have the challenge of figuring out what I still remember!

Also, "Only in the American continents was the parallel domestication of animals eschewed in favor of game management, a kind of animal husbandry different from that developed in Africa and Asia." In this case, we see some divergence, but also some similarities. Again, why?

I am intrigued.

"Domestication of plants took place around the globe in seven locales during approximately the same period, around 8500 BC."

Why? I feel like I should know what led to the agricultural revolution, but I don't remember. Also, why did it develop concurrently among different cultures?
