Happy Flip Day!

(Does anyone else know what Flip Day is...WITHOUT using Google?)

In case you hadn't noticed, my theme for this month was "Star Trek".

I read eighteen "Trek" novels, alongside watching all of the "TNG" films and several episodes from the various shows.

Next month, I'm downplaying February's usual theme of romance and focusing on superheroes: DC, Marvel, you name it (as long as they're morally decent.)

So, look for plenty of graphic novel posts in February!

I'm planning out my monthly reading themes for 2020, and need something for October.

It can't be something I'm doing a different month this year, and it has to be something uplifting and encouraging. October is a tough month for me, as I haven't liked Halloween since I got too old for trick-or-treating, especially since a friend died on that day in 2006.

Any suggestions?

Now that I have completed my reading challenge for 2019, I can reveal my plan for 2020:

Quality over quantity.

I plan on reading longer books, and more classics, next year. Therefore, my annual goal may be the lowest it's ever been.

People have told me I need to read more advanced material, and they're right; after all, I could read at a seventh grade level when I was only in third grade.

Years ago, I decided to read a novel of which the target audience was of the opposite gender...and it had me.

Since then, I've read one romance after another, mostly forsaking the genres that made me a reader: comics, sci-fi, and non-mushy Christian fiction.

Much like Tim Taylor used to have the "Man's Bathroom," I resolve to have the Man's Bookshelf...not just in 2020, but from now on.

My new goal--for the remainder of this year, all of next year, and beyond--is to spend less time online.

So...you may be seeing less from me: shorter reviews, less updates, etc.

Don't worry; I haven't fallen off the face of the earth.

I've decided to start adding reviews again instead of just star ratings.

Entertainment has always been among my favorite topics of discussion...so, why not write about it online?

Plus, I'm going to do more in-depth reviews; not just one mere sentence.

What would you rather do: TALK about reading…or actually READ?

I would definitely choose the latter.

As part of a resolution I'm undertaking this summer, I'm going to spend less time talking about my entertainment--or researching it online--and more time actually enjoying it. That includes movies, television, music…and books.

So, unless I've already read a book, I'll just give it a star rating; no reviews.
