Another way that Will from Ranger's Apprentice and Hal from this book are similar is that they both immediately take care of the people they save, they don't do anything besides help the people. For example, Near the end of this book, Hal took the slaves on board and made Edvin treat all their wounds, he did this immediately. This is similar with Will, Will rescued some children slaves and cared for them right away.

I can relate Hal to my life. For example, Hal invents things, he invented a new type of arrow that does more damage to the enemies. Obviously, I don't design weapons, but I do like making things and love to be inventive, I like finding new ways to design things. I also like how Hal makes good decisions based on his crew, he doesn't just do what he wants, he listens to his crew and Hal bases his decisions off of them.

Hal reacts by getting determined to be like his dad or even better, for example, throughout this book, he shows signs of never giving up, remembering his father.

Hal is the protagonist of this book, he is similar to Will, who is the protagonist of the Ranger's Apprentice series, for example, both Hal and Will are similar in the pressures they face, Will faces the pressure of Alyss' death and faces and Hal faces the pressure of his fathers death, they both react similarly, Will reacts by becoming determined to get better and catch her killer,

used bow and arrow in the Medieval times, they also used swords, also, the food and ranking class are also very similar to the Medieval times. For example, back then, there were many peasants and workers, same with this book, the food is also quite similar because they did not have as advanced farming methods.

The setting of this book is sort of like Medieval times, for example, in the beginning of the book, the author describes the castle that Maddie lives in, they explained that there were knights, and the most common transportation was horses, this connects exactly with what happened in the Medieval times. Adding on, the weapons that the Rangers use are similar to the Medieval tie weapons, from my prior knowledge, they

A theme that I have noticed reoccur is that looks can be deceiving. For example, on page 226, Will was talking to Gilan about Maddie, Will said all the good things to Gilan, Maddie thought that since Will was very strict with her, that he would report her as being bad, just because Will was strict doesn't mean anything bad. This scene also occurred near the beginning of the book, Maddie thought Will hated her, but no

In this situation of helping Stig's father Olaf, I would feel a mix of emotions as Stig, I would feel angry that my father just came to ask for help, not to stay with me, I would also feel hope that I could replenish the bond that was broken between us when he left me with mother for 10 years. After thinking about this, I think my character is more angry than hopeful because knowing Stig, he hates his father.

down Rikard, because he told Rikard to keep fighting while Zavac silently left in the Raven with other crew members. They did not settle this dispute. Lastly, in the first book, Tursgud was the leader of the SHarks, the Sharks put all their trust into Tursgud. Tursgud let them down when he made a poor choice to leave a ship in the sea while it was sinking, his crew wanted to help save the ship, not follow Tursgud.

Motifs that arise in this series of books is someone betraying or letting down someone else. This relates to the theme of to be careful of who you trust because someone who betrays you is obviously not trustworthy. For example, Hal, the main character let down his entire crew by leaving his post on the Andomal and going to his boat, eventually, they sorted out this dispute. Also, Zavac, the leader of the Raven let...

I would be angry because Lady Gisela and Vespera could continue to do these human experiments like what they did Sophie's human parents, and I would want the whole world to be safe, not just the people I care about. The next book will probably be about how Sophie and her group will get information to track down Lady Gisela and Vespera, they will end all the misery that has come form the evil experiments that they did

Sophie reacted to the setting of Havenfield, when she came back from Nightfall, by being thoroughly relived. For example, when she woke up resting in her bed, she felt relaxed and very happy that everything went well, she even asked Edaline if everyone was all right, even the Ogre princess Ro. If I were Sophie in this setting, I would not be relieved, I would be a little angry that I didn't catch Lady Gisela and...

If I were Hal, my mood might be infuriated in this setting because Hal and his crew were put in jail for accusation of murdering Rikard when they were already told that they didn't!

We are starting to see more of the dark side of Hal coming out from all this stress, for example, he yelled at Ulf and Wulf for bickering just because he felt responsible about Ingvar's poor health.

The war tactic that HAlt told some Kikori to use reminded me of Lydia in the Brotherband Chronicles because 30 Kikori used darts to hit and kill the Senshi, Lydia used her darts to kill some pirates that were archers.

Some desirable traits of Will include that he is intelligent, skilled, observant, and athletic. For example, very few people in the whole world of Will's can be a ranger like him. He exceeds in the longbow and is very skilled with weapons. Some undesirable traits of Will include that he is a little too curious, sarcastic, and optimistic.

The description of Zavac's actions and his crew made me see how cruel Zavac was. For example, Zavac rammed the Skandians ship and left them to die, if it weren't for Hal, all the Skandians on that boat would have been dead.

Throughout the book, Hal has shown an unlikeable characteristic of rage. For example, on page 31, Hal got very angry at his brotherband for arguing, and told Ingvar to yell very loud for them to stop. Another example of Hal's rage is that he always rages at Ulf and Wulf for bickering, they can't help it, they are brothers. Lastly, Hal shows signs of rage whenever his or someone else's plan fails.

From the text clues, I can infer that Jesper must have been bullied or made fun of for stealing things because all he is really remebered for is being a thief, everyone but his brotherband thinks of him as that.

Hal represents a leader because he is the skirl of his crew and makes them succeed, this makes me think of me because I am a leader, and I like to take control of things and make my team succeed.
