The stories here are so wildly different in tone that it’s a little off-putting...

Ash’s apology to Tric was surprisingly well done. He really is the best of them all.

I still hope she’s dead though. Not gonna lie.

So a mini epiphany here after the Tric shaped elephant in the room was finally addressed. I get that Mia owes him nothing, despite what he said And whether Mia loves him or not, or whether she ever loved him, Tric was her friend at the very least. So if she can so easily take up with his murderer, someone who murdered him without reason and in cold blood, Mia and Ash have more in common than I thought.

God Ashlinn really is the worst. Are we supposed to like her? Are we supposed to be cheering for her and Mia? I’m so fucking confused. Their relationship is halfway to ruining this series for me, and is only testament to Kristoff’s overall cleverness that I’m willing to slog through their hollow romance just so I can keep enjoying the good parts. Ash, you are awful. AWWWWFULLLLLL.

Ugh, Mia.....

I know she was never supposed to be a saint, but still...at least her feelings for Ash make more sense now. The two of them still make me want to hurl though. There is just something so hollow about the two of them together, and it’s really a shame because otherwise this book has so much depth.

Ack. I hate it when stuff like this happens.

Okay, so I love this series, love this book so far, but Ashlinn is the WORST. I appreciated that there was smut and romance of a sort here without it turning into some moony swoony teenage fantasy, and yet all of a sudden, here we fucking are.

If I have to read about her eyes being “sunsburned blue” one more time I’m going to heave my guts up, gentlefriends.

The voice of these books is just sublime. Not sure how else to describe it. I've never read anything where the story itself is almost secondary to the narration. It's oddly liberating in that you almost don't care what happens to the characters because it's so much fun reading.

Except nothing better happen to the cat. Don't fuck with the cat.

Not really getting the hate a lot of reviewers seem to feel towards this book. I agree, Mephistopheles is a poor man’s Thomas Cresswell, but I think people forget Audrey Rose is just 17.

Audrey Rose is a protagonist after my own heart.

Her and Thomas are right up my alley.

Okay....so Alex trying to navigate life as a student at Yale just reminds me of that recurring dream I have where I don’t go to class all semester and don’t even by the textbook but somehow find myself trying to take the final exam anyway.
