I’ve read 4 stories so far and 5th one partially.

All the stories so far mix the mundane with the epic, and each story has some ideas that it develops in a very satisfying way. I’m enjoying both the exploration of the ideas and the sheer scope Liu Cixin weaves into the narrative. The one criticism - these are short stories, so the exploration isn’t as deep as what I’d find in a full length novel.

If there’s one thing this book does really well, it’s giving perspective! I think it does a really good job of taking several common pitfalls in thinking and explaining with examples. It also offers several actionable ways to deal with them. And it achieves this in an easy to follow text (it offers citation but isn’t research paper level dense). I can intuitively agree with the material so I’m ok with it.

Pretty good so far! It puts into words some things I’ve always felt: how smart ppl aren’t always necessarily rational but might instead rationalize, encouraging uncertainties in thinking, all decisions are bets, etc.

I’m interested in how the book helps ppl make faster decisions in the light of the things mentioned above.

It’s an ok book so far, definitely useful in some ways (e.g. what to do) but doesn’t really go into the nuances (how do do something, etc). E.g., trust; book goes into Bill building trust but doesn’t really go into how.

This can be especially problematic because a lot of the readers would need to fill in the gaps themselves and this can really cause the folks to reaffirm their previously held thoughts.
