Good, solid mystery so far. Not wildly original, but that's okay.

The action, when it happens is great! Bored with the sex scenes, actually doing a lot of skimming through the sexy times.

The characterization is still strong, but Hambly's prose, the description in particular, is sometimes too much...not purple, more like "thick" like tar.

The couple is starting to grow on me. The presence of a substantial sub-plot makes a difference.

Well, of course, I'm rooting for the dragon.

I'm enjoying the setting, voice, and plot, but the romance is annoying. The hero is coming on too-strong, all Mr. Alpha, come-hither, and the result, which I imagine some find sexy, is my idea of creepy and un-romantic.

I really like, Jenny, the protagonist. Her struggles to reconcile motherhood with her "career" really resonate with me.

"I'd kiss the dirtiest part of the ground for a secondhand Mini." Yeah, me, too, Jose, me too.

Technically a re-read. I first read this novel, uh, long ago, when I was much younger. I liked it but because of the older protagonist (37, hah!), didn't quite get it. This time around, I'm finding it much more relatable.

And...it starts to get interesting.

Needed a some light reading to clear my palette. So far, so good.

Back on this again...it's still action-packed and still lacking in any real sense of danger. Saba is tough, but doesn't seem to have much of character arc. And I confess, I'm don't really care much about her brother Llugh.

Feeling sort of guilty because I really wanted to love this and so far...it's a MEH. All caps, and such. Can't put my finger on precisely why it isn't really capturing my attention. It may be that there's a flatness the writing, despite the obviously detailed world building and fascinating secondary characters (the gods).

Chapter 66's title is "Kill the Monster. Change the World." Heroes homage, perhaps?

Liraz, Akiva's sister, is growing on me.

Wow. I really enjoyed the previous book, but thus far, this one is far deeper, delving much more into the realities of war, vengeance, the endless nature, thereof. New secondary characters are interesting.

Went to return Uglies to the library and when perusing the shelves for the next book, found this instead. Oh, happy day!

Slow moving but still holding my attention. Sieh and Nahodoth are already my fave characters.

Continues to move along at a brisk pace, with adequate injections of action and danger, but also burdened by an absence of true menace. Feels like storyline keeps taking the safe route. (Nobody dies; no one gets seriously hurt.)

So the story line has started to get to the problems with being "prettied-up," which is cool. The arrival of the sorta catty love triangle thing between Tally, Shay and David isn't working for me.

Fast moving, but so far shaping up to be a series of all-too-convenient coincidences.

The gods walk among us thing is pretty nifty, but I'm not as engaged in the story as I expected to be.

Okay so far. Wondering how the hell this society works. Specifically, who does all the work?

Was reading something else, bought this cheap, and then drawn in by the narration.

I'm really loving this so far. Hope it doesn't go to crap later.
