And so our idiot-child heroine has finally realized, with a shit-ton of prodding from Tamlin, that she (and her loathsome family) are better off with her in the land of the Fae.

I thought Feyre family was broke. How is it she can ride a horse? If she learned as a child, it's been years since she's ridden. If you haven't ridden in years, or at all, you can't spend the day in the saddle without ending up in excruciating pain afterwards. More lazy ass writing.

How does this twit not see this situation as an opportunity? Why's she so desperate to get back to a life of starvation and servitude to a bunch of toxic assholes? There are much better ways to give a character motivation and purpose. This is lazy writing.

I really like Palamedes. So much that I wish he were a she so I could ship him and Gideon. Even if he turns out to be the villain and that dreadful Ninth necromancer, the hero, I'll still like him.

Fayre's incessant whining anger is exhausting. She's so...whinegry. (Thank dog my expectations are as low as my purchase price on this.)

The pacing edged up ever so slightly with the addition of a murder, but this is still fucking glacial.

Up-bow, staccato slurs and double stops. Thanks to previous work with Kreutzer #4, it's not that difficult. Except for the ongoing problem of making double stops sound "melodious."

Previous page consisted of a long and sorta tedious triplet study. ZZZZZZZZZzzzzzz.... Skipping to this page, which, sigh, has another triplet study, and a song "Around the Samovar." Etudes/studies are beneficial, but my attention span needs something less repetitive.

Not a whole hell of a lot has happened, and despite the lovely writing, this would be be a slice of pretentious "blah" if...the protagonist, Gideon herself, wasn't snarky and funny. But she is, so I'm still reading.

There's nothing "melodious" about my playing of double stops on the violin. Hence, this book... LOL.
