I’m not sure how I feel about Fitz in this book. He’s coming off as a bit thankless. I mean, he came to Buckkeep as a bastard and the king and his uncle treated him like family, gave him opportunities. And all he does is complain about not getting to marry the girl he’s been obsessing over 😭 like grow up, you can’t be expected to be included in courtly life and not live up to ur expectations

I am grateful for the summary in the prologue because I remember next to nothing from book 1. 🙈

Dann machen wir mal weiter mit den Büchern! Bin froh dass der Sprecher vom Hörbuch gleich geblieben ist, ich assoziiere ihn mittlerweile mit Gereon. Oh und dieses mal weiß ich absolut nix über die Story, weil ich die Staffel(n) von der Serie wo der Fall erzählt wird noch nicht gesehen hab 🙌

i didn’t notice Quinn being such an ass when i first read this as a teen 💀 also the r word constantly being used for Astrid’s autistic brother makes me so uncomfortable ugh

when I was 16 or so I read the first two books in the series and even though I loved them I never continued and not knowing what was behind all that has haunted me till this day. Like I’m still thinking about the series. I’m not sure if I still like them too much or if they’re too much early 2000 YA dystopia for me but I REALLY wanna find out what’s going on

i thought this would be a book about murderous zombie pets 😭 i was WRONG

a reincarnated cat, strange dreams, a creepy burial ground… what could possibly go wrong 💀

i’ve been meaning to pick up the book for a while now but i procrastinated doing so because mentions of death and pet loss can be incredibly triggering to me. it’s not that bad so far though. let’s see if i can make it through without having to take larger breaks.

the book reminds me that i wanna understand physics so bad but my brain just shuts down

i’m a bit concerned that King wrote in the introduction that even he thought that the book is too dark and fucked up 💀

the narrator for the audiobook is the same guy who also did project hail mary and i love it!! he’s once again doing such a good job with the different voices and capturing the protagonist’s dry humor

Ich merke beim Hören mal wieder dass ich eine bookish person bin. Kann der story viel besser folgen als bei der Serie und mir werden endlich Zusammenhänge klar, die ich beim Schauen der TV show gar nicht verstanden hab lol

Stories of early modern Italy (esp the Medici!) are one of my fields of interest and the book is hitting all the right spots also by including murder, court intrigue & political schemes
