i find Iago’s soliloquy at the end of the second act very interesting. he is not commuting any crimes per se, rather he is using the situation and the problems that are predestined to happen (eg Othello’s jealousy, Desdemona’s kindness (is that a flaw?) and the fact that they don’t know each other that well). does that make him a villain?

if you know only a bit about true crime it’s pretty easy to spot all the parallels to ted bundy’s case but i know that was kind of the idea behind it all

Simon Beckett never disappoints—one of the best crime authors I’ve discovered this year! Something about the David Hunter books makes them impossible to put down.

i’m always hesitant to start a new book by an author whose previous work i adored. if we were villains turned out to be one of my favorite reads of the past few years and i’m afraid that M.L. Rio’s new novella won’t be as good. 🥲
