IDK that came as such as surprise, but making me wonder if he is connected to her disappearance in some way. Not as in, he done it, but as in, maybe someone trying to punish him, or get back at him for something.

I love Kemmerer's writing. Her ability to draw me into a story within 1-3 pages is pretty exceptional. Also, her character work. I can't help but be invested in their lives, even characters I have never met before. I am intrigued so far by this trio.

Okay, thoughts on this so far:
It's not offensive. There's nothing wrong with it, but this isn't a great fit for my tastes. The writing style, the dream-like quality and the sort of hopping around in focus makes it very hard to decipher any sort of plot. I know Case, our narrator's, friend is missing and has 24-hours to get to the bottom of that, but it's just done in a way that makes it, frankly, not enjoyable.
