Many misadventures with the Duke and the King, then Jim gets left to be a replacement blacksmith where his singing gets him in with a traveling minstrel group. He performs with them and then gets a fright after the show from the father of a girl that was talking to him, thinking him white and in blackface.

Jim and Huck are off the island after Huck's reconnaissance on the shore, and they've got a makeshift raft for going down the river.

Jim hides on the island when he learns he might be getting sold. Huck turns up there, too, after pretending he'd been killed by his abusive "pap."

Finnegan dropped Charlie before he could get the cash back, but now Finnegan finds Eve waiting for him at his "home of the future."

Thru ch 8. 6 & 7 about 2 more of the groups identified as having left the church (BIPOC & mainline protestant/ catholic) and then reasons for hope, talking about 3 Bs: belief, behavior, and belonging.

Multiple explanations currently being spun of the cash exchange for Livvie's photos.

Two from Bach's Anna Magdalena notebook, a March and a Minuet (both pieces I've played before, long ago).

This section was about Eve and some of her activity and thinking since arriving in LA. It includes her perspective on some action we have already witnessed, including her offer from the studio to "assist" Livvie (Olivia).

Eve gets to meet with a rep from Selznik's studio and even gets a sales talk from the man himself.

Litzky sees Eve and Olivia at the club and gets a valuable pic, but Eve finds him later and (evidently) manages to snuff that photo.

Starting Eve's story, which is focused on a man on the train to LA who observes her while reminiscing about his deceased wife and adult son.

In "The DiDomenico Fragment" we learn about art of the Renaissance in the context of people who are not well off but happen to own some valuable art. And about their cousin who is trying to line his pockets essentially at their expense.

The Bootlegger was the story of Mr. Fein attending Carnegie Hall, but also of Mr. Harkness who got the seats next to him, and then the interaction that ensued.
