I’m listening to the audiobook read by Jim Dale, and I wouldn’t recommend it. Some of the pronunciations, accents, and cadences really detract from the story.

I’m listening to the audiobook, and it’s very different than I remember it being. Not bad, just different.

The problem with this book, as with all the others in the series, is pacing. For such short books, they feel very long. I must admit I’m disappointed, and will be taking a break after this book.

I wish I could show you when you are lonely or in darkness, the astonishing light of your own being.

“It offers an example of a sort of reconciliation by which we might escape the endless swinging between center and margins, rigidity and revolt, that has dominated our culture for so long. The remedy is to accommodate the margin within the form, to allow the wilderness or nature to thrive in domesticity, to accommodate diversity within unity.”

True of agriculture, true of politics, and true of life.

I really wish audiobook producers would stop adding music to their productions. I find it really detracts from the book.

“The way is thus opened to run a university as a business, the main purpose of which is to sell diplomas—after a complicated but undemanding four-year ritual—and thereby give employment to professors.”

I’ve been listening to the audiobook, and dislike the reader so much that it’s interfering with the story. I’ll check out the ebook at some point and try again.
