once you adjust to this you just sink into a dreamstate of archaic language, hallucinatory history, and gorgeous set pieces replete with engaging dialogue and interpersonal dynamic. i think this is finally clicking for me.

the way marion talks about how everyone sees her as just a body and how harry is the only one who sees the real her is so heartbreaking. reading this book knowing what happens later (becuz of the film) is like watching an approaching train wreck but i already can't stop.

the antiquated language is a bit of a fight but i can tell it's gorgeous and im really enjoying the warmth this is already emanating. learn'ed english dog might already be a fav pynchon character for me

I've been enjoying this book a lot the entire way thru for all the narrative chaos but I've been increasingly realizing ever since the "colonies are much more" diatribe that this is probably one of the most radically anticapitalist texts I've ever read and these themes are not even obfuscated, Pynchon must be rubbing off on me cuz I'm now thinking mby the Pulitzer loss was becuz of how anti-establishment this is lmao
