Maya Greskovics is finished with The Maze Runner (The Maze Runner, #1)
To be honest, I'm not the best reader. I wish I enjoyed it more, and sink into books often. With a busy schedule, it's hard to read often, but it's relaxing. I normally read before I go to bed. Along with meditation, I find reading helps me fall asleep when my minds awake; it makes me sleepy.

Also, amplify is a great description word because it seems many events build on each other, forever reaching a climax. Last but not least, scramble represents many parts in the book, along with the title.

Three words in The Maze Runner that set a mood or tone in the story include menacing, amplify, and scramble. I picked menacing because descriptions and indirect threats foreshadow scary events, such as the prison-like clothes on all of the boys.

First of all, the world isn't all dark. The characters are only in danger once they set outside of the Maze walls. Inside, the land is green and fertile, with supplies too. Also, you don't figure out that the world is post-apocalyptic until the end. At the beginning, the world could be brand knew for all you know.

The Maze Runner has a queryable plot and a mysterious setting. One review described the book differently, which I disagree with. "This is a fast-paced adventure in a very dark and pretty violent post-apocalyptic world."

This book is a lot like Weedflower. They both are about cultural Revolution in China. Both of them start out with fairly decent, comfortable lives. Both living in communist rule, things slowly started to downfall. War broke out, and many lives including Ling's and Sumiko's.

John Green was naturally a good writer and student. He had an early education, along with bullying from arrogant kids, Green being a social outcast. He went to Kenyon Collage, earning double graduation degrees in Religious Studies and English. After collage, he worked as a student chaplain in hospital with children that have terminal illnesses. This inspired him to be a writer.

I am enjoying this book very much - I can feel and live the characters. I can also relate to them, not by cancer, but by their emotions. First of all, they are teenagers. For example, the way Hazel describes her parents, and how they don't get her. Also, questioning things like why me and how I'm different.

Maya Greskovics is finished with And Then There Were None
The setting in And Then There Were None is important in the plot of the story. It sets the mood. The mansion is bright and bare, and the island is pretty simple too- without any good hiding spots. The ten strangers are alone without communication of anyone but themselves. This makes it very mysterious when one by one people are killed, because everyone notices they can be living with the murderer.

Agatha Christie uses both indirect and direct characterization. She talks about the character's actions and thoughts which tells me about their personality. When describing Captain Lombard indirectly, the book stated, "He said it in a casual way as though a hundred guineas was nothing to him." An example of direct characterization was when Philip Lombard was describing a girl-"Quite attractive-a bit schoolmistressy

Maya Greskovics is finished with Paint the Wind
I decided to read this book becuase of the similarities I have with the main character. Her name is Maya and she lives in California. She later moves to the Wyoming wilderness. The wilderness is a place where I can connect. The sounds, smells, greens, and the imperfectly perfectness of nature. Maya finds who she is, something I question about myself in my everyday life.
