Diskant... at first I was like what a weird name, then I found myself saying it over and over again out loud no less. My dog keeps staring at me wondering WTF is wrong with me.

I've stopped & started this 5 times. Not liking any of the characters. But early start.

totally addictive!

I can't wait to start this one.

hmmm.. confusing start.

There is alot of backstory in this book. The background of the Realms, the background of the healers, the background of the Plague, and so on. It's alot to take in and I would like to see Avry already at the destination since the journey seems to drag. However, I realize it is a book 1 so I'm being patient.

Before you ask, yes I have book 2. That is the reason I waited to read book 1, I heard about the ending of this book.

Still loving the book. A few weird scenes (kinda out of place or not really necessary I guess) but still I love the characters in the story.

At home today. My entire family has food poisoning except me. It's been a trying day. My hubby is acting like he is 5 years old and dying while the teens are handling it perfectly. Of course, my hubby is convinced he has a different case of food poisoning and that is why he is suffering so bad (yeah right...big baby). No time to read today. :(

Almost done. I don't want this book to end. Simply one of the best I've EVER read.

Wow. I didn't see the twist coming. I loved the ending.

Completely hooked. Kerrick is interesting. Wonder his relationship with the prince. Belen- gigantic teddy bear of a man. Love him. Flea is fun. Avry is a good lead female character so far.

It's really not fair to all the other books of mine that I just moved this book to the front of the line but after Matterhorn, I NEED a Maria Snyder book and here it is. And yes my books have feelings damnit.

Ok Kearsley is weird in the middle of her books, they drag so much. However, I'm nearing the end and it is back to being very good.

I am literally scared to continue with the audiobook. I don't want another character that I know and care about to die. I find myself holding my breath when the fighting starts up again or when the character hears a branch crack in the silence of the night or sees the whites of eyes that don't belong to the Marines. Can you tell I'm enthralled by the book?

Totally addicted to this book. I weighed sleeping w/ reading and reading won. I absolutely love Daniel.

This book is killing me. It is so sad, and depressing, and realistic but like a car crash where you can't look away, I can't stop listening to the audiobook. I never thought I'd feel anything for Mellas. He started off as a medal seeking unsympathetic character. Now, he is a heartwrenching emotion and I'm begging that the author makes him survive!

I woke up at 6am just to read this since I knew I'd have no time later. I love the writing, it is so beautiful. The story is good.

jungle rot, ringworm, immersion foot, cerebral malaria. man oh man oh man.....what a fucked up war.

This book keeps making me look up things about Vietnam. Dogs were used to help the platoons. Each dog had a dog handler and often times that dog saved countless lives by warning the men that there were enemies, landmines, or other bad things in the area. Ok, long story short.. some men extended their tours just because of their dogs. Why? The dog was killed when the dog handlers tour was over! SO SAD!

Almost done. I've had zero time to read anything today but I've snuck in a page here and there. I have to admit that I loved the beginning of the book but the last half lacked a storyline. Oh well... the sex is great, the sexual banter is great and it's still fun to read.

I think about this book all the time. It is so intense. Definitely not everyone's taste but should be read by everyone.

This is only 88 pages but it is alot of fun. You gotta love Royce. Poor boy can't control what comes out of his mouth.
