i truly love the fact that gay people being “addicted to the closet” is being discussed a lot in this book - esp in the south. there’s a character here that thought she was literally the ONLY girl who liked other girls and my heart broke but it’s so freaking real. this book is so sad but so good and so IMPORTANT.

(unrelated - i do wish O’Meara not only acknowledged the bad parts of milicent’s life, but vocally expresses her distaste in it more. )

i love that this is a mix of milicent’s life and also californian history - the two are uniquely intertwined

this book is so warm and genuine. i’m like....actually crying over how sweet Satoru is and how much love for cats is in this. i can smell a 5*......👀💦👏🏻

the sister dynamic is SO interesting

this book reminds me SO MUCH of “IT.” like it’s kind of ridiculous. also, can the trope of “the only girl in a group of boys has an abusive, asshole father” die already lol, im bored

also this feels like too much is happening in 6 weeks... like some of the drama is start-and-stop which is annoying

this is such a cute, quick read. the writing is simple and detailed, not super wordy.
