listen i’m the CEO of momblems and yet like. i cannot vibe with how mad persephone gets with demeter. like decoupled from persephones inner monologue, demeters “stalking” is literally making sure her daughter doesn’t get hurt by other gods but she lets her do what she wants. like. the whole premise of this book is that she’s right- persephone went against that rule and got stuck in a bargain with hades...

this book.... annoying. it’s almost everything i dislike about how some ppl write hades/persephone.... pale fragile powerless persephone.... olive complected way-older rich powerful hades.... persephone constantly demeaning minthe for dressing promiscuously.... demeter being over controlling....

the fact that (spoiler) xavier's DEATH is pinned on jaxon for not wanting his literally genocidal brother to return to the world with his MIND CONTROLLING powers while grace goes 'i told you so'. girl you are out of your mind

this book wants to gaslight me SO BAD into thinking that grace hasn't known about the paranormal stuff for more than two weeks in order to villainize jaxon and like. grace is out here shacking up with a racist in her brain and pinning literally any problem that she causes onto jaxon being 'too protective' when. she just became a gargoyle One Week Ago from her perspective. this book SUCKS lmao

this is genuinely. genuinely a big waste of my time. i’m so stunned that wolff doesn’t even walk back hudson’s explicitly eco fascist “overpopulation” “survival of the fittest” vampire supremacy shtick, just inexplicably softens graces feelings towards him.

i’m so stunned that wolff like. doesn’t drop the fact that hudson is paranormal-racist. like she’s dropped a lot of stuff between the first book ans this and retconned other stuff but. the racism? stays?

the passage of time in this series is so nuts. like the whole first book takes place over one week and they talk about months as if they’re years

i do so hâte the phrase “my gargoyle”

What, No Flint Romance? [throws phone on asphalt] (but fr it's so jarring that wolff spent a lot of time in the first book trying to get us to believe that jaxon/grace were soulmates and like the first 5% of the sequel is grace being like hm. my feelings are not the same. well yeah dumbass you only know this boy for a week)

[back-and-forth hand motion] i feel like the author always chickens out with really cool premises and mentions them like... jaxon falling as low as lia and also performing the same ritual would've been INSANE

this sounds like. a better vampire academy tbh. cheesy af but at least things are happening
