Very engaging. However, this was not the best book to take on vacation to read in order to relax.

Restless with the story. Maybe this is not the right time to read about a socially isolated character.

A Tale of Two Cornbreads is so moving! The passages about pushing back against the assumptions of what people think you should be based on their bias is especially moving and timing.

@chefedwardlee Nigerian Hustle is one of my favorites. I especially liked Tunde: "He pulls you into him and charms you with words, simply but meaningful words. He can infuriate you one moment and disarm you the next. " The German mustard chapter with the five misperceptions of German food is so thought provoking and eye opening. I love his description of parenthood challenges.

@chefedwardlee "Scandinavian culture disapproved of food for a long time. It was sustenance, not something to be enjoyed. Not something to luxuriate in." -- Still thinking hard about this and how it can be applied in many situations. Also, it was nice to "visit" Seattle with the author and see another side of the city.

Matriarchs of Montgomery is making me want to visit Montgomery, Alabama to try Korean and soul food. Lessons in Smen made me think about secret recipes that are passed on through show and tell as opposed to being written.
