There's definitely an "I researched ALL THE THINGS" element, but Skal is doing an excellent job of integrating Stoker and his timeframe so a modern reader has a sense of how/why he saw things.

I like this premise, but as of this page, I do not feel empowered or strengthened. I feel like I want to disembowel each and every man mentioned in this book, transform into a dragon, sear their bodies into ash, and salt the earth.
