Very interesting that the original Turkish was published >10 years ago and it applies very much to what int'l media has only started covering in Turkey the past couple years

I've read quite a few books being marketed as this year's "Gone Girl" ... and this is by far the best so far. The writing is surprisingly strong

I'm always slightly hesitant when it comes to titles riding a wave of hype, but apart from a bit of sap at times this is rather well done.

Very interested in all the controversy surrounding this...upon reading so far, very complex and all the kneejerk cries of "sexism" are interesting to me---that seems like a rather shallow reading, but you know what they say about many Americans and irony...

Gosh, this is brilliant stuff. Apparently people basically stay the same over time, because despite some period details all this social satire written in the '20s still feels sort of familiar in these times

Very intrigued so far - a literary thriller about a teenage girl who seems to be part of some sort of survivalist terror cell. Top-notch writing

Gets 4 stars because the first 90% is fantastic and some of the best stuff I've read in ages...then comes the final 30 pages. It is foreshadowed well, but the change in pacing is too abrupt and some of the characters involved haven't been fleshed out enough for it to be earned
