It took me a bit to get into the narrative as it does a lot of skipping back and forth between time and place, but now that I have I'm starting to enjoy this very much

Was this rushed into publication or something? It would explain the shoddy editing anyway--multiple instances of using the same phrase twice within a passage and I even caught a dreaded "your/you're" mix up. Strange for a big release from a major publisher.

The plot better turn out to be worth it, because some of the dialogue in this is comically awful, and I won't even get into the Gossip Girl-esque roving eye that sounds like an adult trying to sound like what she heard on a teen drama

If nothing else, the first chapter of this, which describes a sea battle at the end of World War II, is rendered powerfully and is one of the best opening passages I've read in recent memory

This is SO engrossing. And funny. And thought-provoking. I get the hype.
