Goodness, "The Semplica Girl Diaries" did my head in. In a good way, but what a dark, dark way the plight of the eponymous girls is presented

In general I'd say so far that these stories are definitely worth the recent acclaim they've been getting, but Saunders' constant reliance on those "future speak"-type names of things that are abbreviated compounded-together words is a teensy bit annoying

Somewhat of a hoopla sprang from nowhere Monday when this was named as a Printz honor title. Throw in that it was published by a tiny press and I couldn't resist ordering it immediately. Enjoying so far - Taylor's extreme literal-mindedness makes for an interesting and amusing narrator. Also easy to see why this would be an awards magnet: fallibility of memory and exploring existentialism are emerging themes so far
