This was waiting for me when I got home so I just had to dig in. I'd forgotten just how visceral Ferrante's prose is, but I've quickly fallen back under the spell My Brilliant Friend cast

This is great in concept: a Barbara Covett-esque unreliable narrator (who may just be plain making the whole thing up) and I'm finding that there's a lot to think about now that I've pulled myself away, but it has been a bit of a chore to actually read so far...

This is certainly ambitious and interesting. Nonetheless, I hope all the random italicization ends up serving some sort of purpose as opposed to a sort of quirky flourish as it is driving me a bit batty
