At this point jews are being rounded up how Hannah's mother wished the Frank's had taken them with them to Switzerland. Now, they had a possible way out of getting caught. Hannah's Dad got them passports to go to Paraguay to get out of Europe and away from the Germans.

Just a little bit of information on the little club they started and what they would do playing ping pong and have ice cream. When they were at Anne's house, they would have donuts. They were hoping Anne would return one day so they could meet again. That day most likely never happened...

Hannah is afraid for Anne and her family as she is going through photo albums of her, the family, and the goodtimes they had back then before the war started. Where were they now she thought were they crossing over into Switzerland, but were they safe. While that was happening, Holland was now being torn apart because of the war in some cities.

Hannah was just thinking about Anne as she was helping her mom make Strawberry jam wondering why she and her family just vanished and she was saying to herself why someone couldn't come and help her out and vanished as well. Alfred her friend, was summoned by the Germans to go to their work camp she wanted a relationship with him when he returned...I don't know if that ever happened...

This is the part where the Germans enter Amsterdam, and things are starting to happen. Anne's Friend Hannah is shocked one day as it looks as though the Frank's have just picked up and left everything, but a few things were taken from the home as they took things with them. This is when they went into hiding. Hannah didn't understand what happened to Anne as she left her cat behind the cat was placed with a neighbor.

Now the story is opening up we are seeing who Hannah is. She has a part in this story as well. I feel like I have already read more than 4 pages, but altogether, I've already read 11 pages in this book, including the roman numeral marked pages. It's neat to now see another perspective on this story. First read Anne's Diary, then Mieps's account, which was so incredible I never wanted to put it down now this story.

I totally forgot I had this book. It's a short book from Anne's Friend, written also by Alison, who has permission to write about Hannah's story as her note is included in the beginning. It's what she remembers about what happened all those tragic years of World War II. I just read the authors note and Hannah's note, and I'm already into it.

It could have been the reason he knew what Pino was doing as well. Leyers passed away many years later. Around 70 years old is when Pino finally told this story to someone that he never wanted to speak of the war again. This is a story I'm not going to forget in a hurry. I can't believe this was based on a true events. it's an incredible story.

Wow what a journey what a story I will never forget this story for a long time. The ending was just a conclusion of all the characters and where they ended up some passed away some went on to other things on their life like Pino did he found 2 more wives had children and the life that was General Leyers he lived a life as well but was sort of doing what Pino was doing as well...

Pino shakes his hand...WHY! The guy was a criminal. He just let's him walk into the place he's waited to go and now the war is officially over. The Germans have surrendered... The war was not really over for Pino, though after all he's been through...

What a rollercoaster that chapter was. The point where Pino could have taken the General out and he couldn't do it and all this time him knowing he was an observer and never confronted him about it. All this time, he drove him around and he never once asked him about it. The chase is on to taking the general to the place he was supposed to reach, getting stopped along the way by highway men who want to kill them...

It's crazy what just happened. How could the Americans be involved with General Leyers he's a criminal he was supposed to be hanged. Pino told him how their woman died, and now he's trying to blame Pino for their deaths that's insane. He has him in the middle of nowhere now and he can't call anyone and no one would know what happened to him. Pino is in charge of Leyers now. He tried to say he cared for Pino not true.

The last sad chapter it would seem for Pino everything has come to an end they found Anna and it would seem he had his last cry over her. There was no way he would be able to take her body to be buried she was involved with the Germans. He now had to move on it was just heartbreaking for him, saying his last goodbye to her. Pino had a job to do the Americans wanted him. It wasn't revealed as of yet what it was.

That has to be the most grotesque chapter I have read in this book, well it is the ending point. After all that Pino has been through, they go and search for his cousin who was mistaken by the resistance and shot for thinking he was with the Germans. In the place where they found his cousin there were more people left unclaimed yet. But then his dad and uncle now realized why he was so upset when he came home...Anna.

As Pino sees poor Anna go down, someone notices he knows someone as he starts to cry. He is chased away from the scene down streets theaters and churches it's incredible as he's fighting the pain inside near the end of the chase he is finally alone in the cathedral thinking what he's done as he was part of the Germans agenda but spying on them. He realized he now had nothing. What had his life come to he was alone...

That has to be the saddest ending to any of the chapters this far. It goes from a party that ended in lots of fun and hungover people laying around in a ballroom to Pino's cousin getting shot, and now the love of his life, I so did not see that coming. I feel bad for him. They were part of the whole thing, but they didn't really participate in it so sad...

Wow that has to be the best chapter after all this time, the biggest part of the war is now ended. Pino turned the tables on Leyers and arrested him for his crimes, and pointed a gun to his head, and turned him in. Now Pino is in touch with American soldiers, and he is doing a little favor for them to throw an end of the war party. It is awesome to see Pino gaining all his confidence back since working for the nazis.

Twigleg seems to be the spy in this story the crew has spent enough time on this island and now it was time to take off. Twigleg was trying to figure out a way to hide out before revealing himself to everyone. He had orders from his master to let him know what they were up to. Before they left the Professor gave them some provisions for their trip before they took off.

This chapter was intense is Pino really going to arrest General Leyers that was too crazy but is he going to go through with it. I liked when he meets with the man in the office and telling him what General and the other Germans were doing burning the documents that would prove what they were planning. All the destruction they planned in the different places they went to.

This story just keeps getting more interesting by each turn of the page. The professor, the man who met Firedrake in the cave he was now curious as to where the crew was headed off to next. He asked why they were there in the first place, they told him it was because of the storm. They asked him about the Rim of Heaven he didn't know exactly where it was, but he couldn't help them he had a little trip of his own...

Sorrell is so bossy she came back from being rescued, and they find Firedrake in a cave with a human from the camp. Sorrell is not too happy after being captured by one. She is informed that the human saved Firedrake's life from the basilisk in the cave that was destroyed with a mirror the human was holding.

Sorrel had been captured. Ben was able to find her as she was put into a cage with all the other animals the humans had captured a monkey and some chickens. They managed to open all the cages. They also saw that the humans also captured a manikin they were wondering what was he doing here as he told his sad little story about being dropped on this island by the raven who had carried it and dropped it in the storm.

Landing may not have been a good idea. On a beach island with people on it, archeologists were on this island digging apparently in the wrong place as Ben had discovered a cave with writing and weird looking faces in there higher up in the hills. Sorrel was covering their tracks and at a certain point, it stopped, and she is nowhere to be found until Ben realizes what has happened. He takes off to the camp.

Not much happening in the beginning but lots of snow blocking the roads where where Pino and the General are. The whole chapter is mainly just a lot of the war happening, which is always talked about but never really seen. The Germans are now losing their men are going down, the other armies are advancing, and the end of the war is around the corner.

I'm liking the communication with the manikin who has to report back to the Golden dragon. They sneak up on them with the black crow as the transportation. The little manikin man reports back to the dragon in a natural pool of water it's like a call a human would make. That part was neat. He doesn't get all the information because of Sorrel she doesn't want anyone knowing where they are going. It's a secret.

An encounter with another dragon who wants nothing but the gray dragon as prey. Black birds are involved in bringing the dwarfs over to tell this other golden dragon in the castle they find of the news of this group of a human, a brownie, and the gray dragon. He wants to know if this is true and why they have come to this place.

The group makes the first flight out that follows the map, so Sorrel thought she was flying them in the yellow zone, and Ben knew it from looking at the map himself, it was too early to turn. When they landed on the ground, they were met with tiny dwarfs. I could actually imagine this chapter. I'm so wanting to see the adaptation already...

Finally getting back to this book. A lot happens in this chapter but it moves so fast the thing that stands out the most is the trip Pino makes with General Leyers to see Mussolini again when he realizes he's losing control because the war is nearing its end. Pino goes back home for a minute his dad wants him to get out of the city and get away from the war. Pino has the chance to see Anna again right at the end...

I honestly had to read that story over again. I wasn't sure what was going on. I know it was about a pickpocket comedian of sorts. I thought the ending would be different, but no it was bland instead.

Sorrell is so bossy it would seem like the dragon would be in charge. She was having second thoughts on this because of the boy wanting to go with them on this adventure. She finally agrees, but she was frustrated because the humans were taking their home lands away.
