Just finished Aloft in this story collection. Unlike the other stories i read so far in this collection, this was a breath of fresh air. It was such a fun fantastical character driven story with a happy ending! A first for this collection so far.

I think I'm going to finally return to this and try to read a bit more. I hope it's something spooky and fantastical this time bc the last story in this collection was about unstable gun nuts and mass shootings and I don't i think can stomach another story like that. It's way too close to real life.

I know this is such and beloved classic and I loved Lord of the Rings when I read it as a teenager. But I am shocked that this book is not hooking me at all. I feel like I should be loving this but I'm not, and I'm not sure why. Did my taste in books change that much over the years?

Read a book a long time ago called Ice Limit that had a huge cliff hanger ending and no sequel. Years later I read this random Indians Jones like adventure and the characters are referring to those events and saying that problem is being fought in another part of the world. So intriguing! I'm going to have to see if there's a new book that picks up where that left off. It's been a few years since I read the 1st book
