Funny how the cult's semi mechanical human experiments remind me so much of the Wheelers from Return to Oz. And this book is written in the 70s I believe. Strange how this appears to another thing ripped off from his work to be used in later movies, yet no one really seems to know who he is. Between stranger tides and this, I don't feel it's all coincidence.

Reading sci-fi books from late 1970s is quite odd. They are less pulpy, have more grit and realism than the 60s. But its still old fashioned (in both good and bad ways) at the same time.

Funny this book doesn't have a proper entry here. Maybe bc its old. But this real! So I'm giving it a chance.

Well written and engaging and all. Just a real well told human story Then a third of the way is the book goes "Oh by the way the main character secretly has telekinesis" surprising the whole cast and reader at the same time. Its a wild left turn but u know what? I really like it.

Wow this book got really depressing. I thought a mousey housewife was gonna finf her courage and fight monsters, instead I am watching a poor lady be dismissed, gaslit, and brain washed by those around her.

These husbands are the worst. Treating their wives like children bc that see they as historical and silly

The Husband starts doing something and it seems he's by Patricia's side before saying "Oh maybe u didn't see what u thought u saw." For real? This guy is useless. He's never there and when he is, he psycho's analyzes her. How did she end up with this guy? There's no chemistry whatsoever. They hardly even talk.

Ragtag lives!

There is such a thing as naive. But Patricia must be color blind bc she is missing all the red flags here. Also Carter is such a none character. He's the husband. Her partner. Her love but he's never around and when he is there is nothing but cliche emptiness coming from him. He does not feel like real character at all. Might as well made Patty single at this point.

I like this and all but why are the husbands so absent? Even when they are in the scenes they are like a piece of furniture. I know this tale is focused on house wives but why do the men have no character in this story?

Really fun so far.
