U know what I like about this book? Bc the main character is an adult the book is more grown up. Finally. As much as I love Rick's work, his books have all been from the point of a fourteen year old so they have been eventually getting this Saturday morning cartoon vibe over time. This fresh take is what was really needed.

This is clearly a smaller than usual adventure, but its still pretty fun regardless.

Oh its nice to return this world again. To see Percy grown up. To revisit Camp Half Blood. To see old favorites like Nico and Chiron. This is really great. Just so nostalgic for me.

Interesting but holy wow, is the writing dry. A bit of challenge to finish.

Despite the great start, its beginning to feel like The Martin again. I mean I like science and all. But there's a point where it feels more like a lecture than scifi.

Surprising great intfo so far. Love the mystery.

Well the opening involves a sort of gruesome injury I hate seeing in books or film. Don't care if its a lady or a guy. It gets under my skin a bit, bc those parts should be off limits. At least for me they should.

So jackolops are a thing in this book. Every time I hear about this mythical creature I think back what they are based on and its horrifying. A case where ignorance is truly a blessing. Lol

The comparisons that can be made between this and Narnia are limitless. Lol

So far, this is pretty adorable. Perfect right now seeing how I recently finished a very dark horror novel.

The book just focused in a couple who boarded up their home to keep the ghost out. Think about that a moment.

There is no such thing as cheap deaths with this author. He draws them out. Let them linger with this after math that pulls on ur heartstrings.

OMG! 3/4s in they kill what is essentially the main character. I was rooting for him. Thought he would be the hero & now he's just dead! That's a bold move. Not sure how to feel about this. His whole arc was the heart of the story. What's gonna happen now?
