Oh look! About & Costello references. I wonder how many other millennials know what that is? I bet not many.

I know the author is trying to make the lead snarky and a bit of a smart a** with quips and one liners. But the lead is just coming off as a nerd trying to be cool instead. He is really missing the mark by a mile here.

Wait, in this book there's crooked high ranking officials trying to bypass the law for personal gain? I thought this was supposed to fiction!

Read a later novel in this series a while ago and was complete Indians Jones with pirates, cyclopses, and a magical elixer. Starting with the this 1st book though, I'm surprised this is a spy caper out of the gate. It's not a bad thing. I just wasn't expecting it. Clearly this series morphed from one genre to another as the books went on.

This far in I'm ready to board a rocket to leave the moon. The story's world is so unique and imaginative but I just don't want to follow these characters any more. They're essentially rich cooperate bad guys who believe they are doing good. And they are not changing for the better either. I don't think I could reach too much more about this family so removed reality.

I know this is fiction and all but the book just claimed freckles is what happens as a result of incest. I'm sorry. I think I'm going to call BS on that one. With all the the actual science that actually does weave in and out of this story nicely, I am just surprised something this silly popped up here. What are u doing Ian McDonald? Scratch that. This book is full of wtf moments he might not know himself.

Nearly 80% of the way through and this book aside from wackadoo craziness of the work in general, not much has happened other than politics.

I'm realizing I'm having the same issues with this book as I have with the cyberpunk genre. The world presented here is combo of both fascinating and horrifying. And I just struggle with the idea that society would ever move in this direction bc there is just so much wrong with it.

I'm beginning to think that this author doesn't know how love works. There's some thing very stale and distant about the relationships between every couple in the story so far.

Tonight this book decided to take break from crazy bananas scifi to flashback to an earlier part of an elderly characters life to follow a really beautiful yet tragic friendship. It's a really nice breath of fresh air to see such a simple side story take place in a such a complicated weird world.

So the this book just went into some nitty gritty and graphic detail about how a woman can love an A.I. program & I dunno how I feel about that. It's just really weird. I dunno what else to say. I'm at a loss of words after what I just read.

So there's a sport on the moon very similar to paint ball, only the paint is filled with high concentrations of drugs. So Every time someone gets hit they get a little higher. If they are hit enough to completely start hallucinating and tripping all over the place causing their team to lose. This book is so strange.

Phew! Almost didn't continue reading this last night bc it was leading up to some awful disturbing material where a very young child may fall victim to an old man with the society in this book being completely ok with it. Instead things don't go that way & it may spark a war. & I'm okay with that. If this sick stuff is some weirdo norm in this part of the world I'm ready to see it all burn when their attacked.

This book just added a twist that is shocking for all the wrong reasons and I'm a little disturbed by the fact this author took a character arc in this site direction. I will have to stop reading if it goes to far down this dark road. & I hope this author has a darn good reason for including this or else I'm really going to have reassess how I feel about this author and if I should continue to support his work
