This is a long book ... but enjoyable. Just gonna take me a while I guess. 😅

Tbh, this is a bit of a slog. Not because it's difficult to read, just ... boring. I don't even know why I chose to read this, but I clearly chose poorly.

So ... anyone else think it's a little odd there isn't a single Image or Boom title in the graphic novels category? 🤔 And I think I read, um ... quite a few graphic novels and it seems weird I haven't read a single one nominated - most I've never even heard of. Hmm.

But all births are not happy. Like me and Amil. We lived and you died. It must have been a terrible day for Papa when we were born. I wonder if he even loved us then. I wonder if it's hard to love us all the way now. It's like India–a new country is born, but my home is dying.

"The thought of not going to school made my body heavy with sadness. I'm going to miss school. I like being around different people even if I don't want to talk to them. I like having tasks set before me so I can busy myself without thinking too much. I don't like thinking about things I can't understand."

This girl and I are kindred spirits.

I think the whole "pray they are hungry" thing would've been more impactful if it was revealed that the person who wrote it on the wall forgot punctuation and it was misunderstood. To me, "pray, they are hungry" is scarier ... even knowing now what it means when they aren't.

My greatest wish for humanity is not for peace or comfort or joy. It is that we all still die a little inside every time we witness the death of another. For only the pain of empathy will keep us human. There's no version of God that can help us if we ever lose that.

I hadn't realize how much I've missed a good vampire story. Loving the setting and characters in this as well.

Omg I do not want to read about "Wedding Planner" Batgirl.

Who else is working on finishing their challenge and panicked a little seeing it was gone off the home page and replaced with the 2020 one? IT'S STILL 2019 DANG IT.
