This book continues to be an outstanding critical work on American history. I continue to learn things that I either wasn't taught in grade school, or I was not paying attention.

Andrew Jackson is quite possibly my least favorite president of all time. What a complete...there's not even a good word for it...what a complete Jackson!

Cantankerous old John Adams. It's sort of humorous to imagine him huddled by a fire in the White House surrounded by Abigail's washing and unpacked moving boxes.

The Constitution is ratified...and Johnson notes that many other countries, while surveying the language, fail to observe fully the process which lead to more problems.

This one was overdue at the library. It's not abandoned, but it is on significant hold while I work on the other books I actually own.

On to the Revolution! Interesting text regarding the Great Awakening and its power to influence the American Revolution. This is quite a powerful history, and it continues to be an enjoyable read.

I was always a big fan of Roger Williams (the colonist, not the pianist) and now I remember why. Huge proponent of religious freedom in all its forms, even if he didn't agree with some of them. Not like that John Winthrop character...what a jerk! Still, it can't have been easy to be a leader in such uncertain wilderness which I guess is why the Indian massacres have now started.

George Will has chosen some fascinating characters with which to fashion his book. It makes for some incredible reading.

Surprisingly easy read, and now I'm at least a week ahead of the Scholars...particularly the ones who've not even gotten the book out of their mailboxes yet.

A 1000 pages of American History. Where did I put that Proust?!

Finished the chapter on LaRussa. The man has an incredibly sharp mind. It's no wonder he's a successful manager.

It's baseball season, and this promises to be an in-depth look at the mental game behind baseball that most people ignore while their gnawing on their hot dogs and chatting with their neighbors. This is why baseball is infinitely complex.

Better than The Wordy Shipmates, but it's a little difficult to keep the Hawaiian nobility straight...apparently ALL of their names started with a K. Anyway, I'm thrilled to have a new Sarah Vowell book. I simply love her style.

Humorous...but not as good as his book, America.

Global Climate Change in plain language for the ordinary citizen. Highly recommended.

Thus far, an interesting read on the scientific and political entanglements regarding global climate change.

This book is an outstanding historical read. I've learned so much about so many different people, events, and ephemera that I did not know before. I wish I had more spare time to read it. Highly recommended.

I love this book! I highly recommend it to you if you are at all interested in the history of the United States...and not just the parts you're required to learn in school.
