Oh, it's about to get real up in Rhode Island and surrounding Narragansett controlled areas. You don't even want to be on the wrong side of Roger Williams right now!

Likely the only way I'll ever really understand the economy. Thus far, easy to understand, but not an oversimplification...there is a difference.

The more I read, the more I am enamored with Williams and his concept of government.

Finally getting to Williams. The first of this book is rife with English Parliament and Kings James and Charles. But, a good read thus far.

Thus far an interesting recounting of English parliamentary history during the time of Sir Edward Coke...I look forward to more about Williams in the coming pages.

An incredible idea. Each day of the year is dedicated to one piece of American History...so you're not overloaded with facts and figures, but you gain a bit of knowledge each day. I look forward to finishing this one, and my understanding is that there are more in the series. I can see myself enjoying this for some time to come.

I almost hate to finish this book. It's been good to get to know Jayber and his life in various places. And I've reached a sort of "new Walden" portion of the narrative that has captured my interest. This will certainly be one of my favorite books that I've ever read.

This is going to be heartbreaking, I can tell. And yet, I'm certain it will be one of the most important books I've ever read.

A good deal of wisdom in these first few pages. Promising a great deal more in the rest of it.

Steinbeck...seriously! A drunken attempt to swat a fly, possibly the best prose I've read. The man was a genius.

This is truly a bizarre collection of stories. The random, often gruesome, twists at the ends of several of these are quite adequate for Halloween purposes.
