Riveting. Truly a page turner, if it weren't on Kindle...so, more of a forward button pusher. Excited to read more.

Quickly becoming a page turner. I almost balked at 600 pages, but this is a fast story, and very interesting. I'm excited about the prospects.

Engaging read. I'm checking this one out on my wife's Kindle since she already had it downloaded. I also like the Kindle format more than I thought I would. I think I may have to check it out more. It certainly beats holding a 3 lb. book up in the air while you read before bed.

Decent story, thus far. At first, I was a little concerned that we were getting too many characters all at once, but the last couple of chapters have been consistently good.

It's the conversation that's weird in this book. The story is good, but the conversation is off. Did people really talk this way? They don't any more, if they did. I don't know. I'm not impressed with the writing. I'll continue though, because I'd like to see what happens. Still, the conversation...at times, it's hard to figure out how said what. It's either too fast, or poorly written. Maybe both.

Hemingway's sharp writing style takes a little getting used to, but the story seems interesting thus far.

I should not have started this so soon after "To Kill A Mockingbird." The language is very clipped, which I understand is Hemingway's style. I suppose I really shouldn't comment until I'm further in. So far, it's not bad. We'll see.

I'm embarrassed to say that this is the first time I've read this...but I promise it won't be the last. What an amazing book, and I'm only halfway through.

Intriguing thoughts on climate as it affects species. Still continues to be a difficult read, but the language is certainly beautiful.

So clear and even, not emotional. An excellent read to understand the hows, whys and what fors from both sides of the argument.

The earth was on the move. Grass that had grown for tens of thousands of years had been ripped up in the name of profit, and now, with nothing to hold it down, the soil began to swirl 10000 feet in the air. A blizzard of dirt rained down on No Man's Land.

Folkers said "it all happened so fast" meaning his wealth and good fortune. Hmmm, very prescient for a time 85 years later.

The natural; the supernatural, Stuart covers it all in his stories. They're wonderful stories about a different time that are not all that different from today. An incredible writer.

Just finished "Sunday afternoon hanging." I'm surprised that hasn't ended up on somebody's banned book/story list. Plenty of cussin' and violence...but a good, well written story about some old time justice in Kentucky. This is a great book!

I wish I could write this way. Simple, yet captivating. Read "Walk in the moon shadows" by Jesse Stuart if you get the chance.

A little of the mountains before I head out on retreat with the McConnell Scholars in August. If you've finished Berry, try Stuart.
