Sowell proving not all Germans are inherently racist or Nazis and that those who even voted for Hitler had no idea of the planned atrocities later committed against the Jewish people

*SPOILER* the fact Jake is hiding his ex-wife's adultery from her conservative parents and family is ridiculous to me. Why would you ever protect someone from the consequences of their own actions??? You would have to PAY me to do that, like monthly payments of a million dollars smh uh-uh ✋🏾😐😤

I'm confused by the view points in between the chapters and by the fact we have no description of Owen despite Harris giving me a play by play description on every other character it seems

I didn't expect there to be so many love scenes in this smh lol and then I think we're gonna skip it but nope, just a chapter break

Pretty by the book rom com so far, I won't expect too much but at least the main couple is actually cute together

Essay #3- The Real History of Slavery: 5/5✨

Not at all what I thought this essay would be about. Sowell did not enlighten me with the atrocities of slavery but instead stated how narrow the current history of it is when in truth the entire world participated in slavery and it had nothing to do with race. Anyone could be enslaved and racism was only added in the South to justify it later when opinion changed

This is so sad. Not that I thought it wouldn't be but dang 😭 I STILL wasn't ready smh

I just wanna finish this book, I cannot read this another day

I gotta give Brazier props for even keeping me interested this long considering how little has actually happened. But the love scene led to a confusion I've never known. "My body rises to a crescendo, that stuck-on-the-ceiling, taffy-pulling feeling" what does that even mean???? TAFFY-PULLING??? smh I'm baffled

I think it was meant to be funny but the mc not wanting to eat teriyaki seitan bc it sounds like "Satan" and then calling it satanic just seems so stupid and like she's mocking a language. 🙂🙄😒

2nd essay finished, Are Jews Generic?

5/5✨ identified the middleman minorities through out history and in different countries, the similarities in their values and the fact their position in that society is what ultimately links them and the atrocities of mass violence enacted against them.

Onto the next one: The Real History of Slavery. I expect Sowell to pull no punches

This mc is boring and not one I'm rooting for since her main tragedy is very overplayed to me. I think it'd really help if she suffered from anxiety or some panic disorder to help me sympathize because otherwise we just make stupid decisions bb ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

I don't like this book, maybe the points of it are lost on me. I don't enjoy Morrison's observations on the black community, then again they are so disgusting I doubt they're meant to be enjoyed. I don't believe she is an author I like or even admire beyond her obvious writing talent.

Titular essay finished. I am blown away by all the information provided smh 🤯 I'd rate the first essay, Black Rednecks and White Liberals a 4/5✨ . The welfare states being responsible for breaking up the black family is briefly mentioned then not examined in depth and that disappointed me. On to the next essay, Are the Jews Generic?

From the first page of the preface you can tell Thomas Sowell is incredibly intelligent. And though the first essay, is not at all what I expected, informing me of the origin of the Antebellum Southern Whites, it is undeniably fascinating. Just a hidden history of lazy, prideful and savage behavior that ultimately survived and evolved into the "Black Ghettos" of today. I never would've drawn that connection myself.

How is this book literally so boring? I thought I was picking up a thriller but this is soooo slow 😩🥲 and the characters are as compelling as dirt 😶

I wish I cared more about this romance but it is so painfully by-the-book and boring.

Why am I even reading this? Bc I thought the cover was pretty and wanted it on my virtual shelf smh lol this is so ddrrrrrryyyy

I am so over all these dang perspectives and back stories 😑 not every character needs a narrative dang it I am tirrrreeeddd😩
