Ok, she won me over with strategic vomit humor. I'm almost willing to overlook how slow and boring the first quarter was.

I had a lot to drink at a party on Saturday and apparently bought a few books recommended by other party goers. I am not the only one who left with newly purchased e-books.

How much can talk about data entry in a review before I have bored every single one of you?

Finished the second one in a single sitting this morning. Wonderful.

Work is getting in the way of reading time yet again.

I'm enjoying the clockworks, but this section is a bit Renfest.

Little black hearts, I tell you.

So now we've gotten to see two out of three women cry, but obviously none of the men. And the third in a self described state of hysteria. And I'm still bored. Possibly bored to tears if this book were taken as a guide. I think we're done here.

Would the level of technology in this prequel series make more sense if I had read more than the first of the previous series? Or did I just forget how common mechanical servants are?

I don't even know what genre this is.

While I'm happy that two of the most recent 3 POV characters appear to be capable women, why the hell is the middle of a gunfight the place to introduce a character by way of reviewing her entire espionage career starting from the moment an Mi-6 agent approached her in school?

Nothing like having a good cry and touching up make-up to really sell how strong and smart a woman is. And cataloging all the tears she sheds probably isn't sufficient unless you also point out all the times she somehow manages not to cry. Why the fuck am I still listening to this?

It's kind of amazing just how boring this is.

So glad to see that the recurring joke where women don't understand science and have to have it dumbed down for them has made it into this volume as well. Wait. Not glad. What's the other one? Pissed off? Yeah, that's it.
