I see why this is everyone’s least favorite. Roth already made her statements about governmental abuse of power, keeping secrets and abuse towards the minorities of society in the second book. Doing it again in the third book is beating a dead horse and like Four, I’m exhausted by it. This book needed to be half as long, focus on getting out of the city while learning about their past & it would be much better.

I’m honestly disappointed with how this is going. It’s not at all what I was expecting. There were great sections don’t get me wrong, but the majority of it is comparable to a soap opera with hints of environmental ethics.

Why is this book 500 pages? It feels like this book keeps growing new pages with how slow it’s going. We have 6-7 POV’s and I only care about maybe two. One because she’s directly involved with the conflict between industry and forest conservation; the other because he’s studying why people join environmental activist groups. The others seem superfluous to what the novel is supposed to be addressing.

How dare the author give me that much anxiety over a characters life!

It’s Indiana Jones meets Firefly and I’m loving it so far!
