Ohkubo continues to write the doubts that some characters have about their religions. Capt. Burns knows that their religion is built on lies, yet he continues to search for a reason to follow the Temple. Although Ohkubo's manga is cliché, the character arcs are done well. Ohkubo takes the time to focus on every character, so that their involvement in the current plot is still important to the story.

Orochimaru will always be the best villain of this series.

Ch213: The connections between new characters & recurring characters are weird. The relationships weren't written well in the chapters leading up to this one, so having Angel cry for Megumi makes sense to only the mangaka. There's no proper development. The sudden shift in the story is refreshing after a lot of disappointing chapters, but the writing & pacing are still sloppy.

Ohkubo's female characters are usually written well, but I'm convinced that Ohkubo doesn't know what to do with Tamaki. She finally gets some character development, but the serious moments of the volume are overshadowed by bad comedy and fanservice.

I’m reading these chapters on Manga Plus.
The Culling game arc is finally getting interesting, but the pacing of the story has somehow gotten worse… Every chapter seems to be missing a lot of info. Gege is rushing the story. There’s info dumping when it’s not needed, and plot holes everywhere else. Gege is prioritizing the action instead of the writing.

Idk what to think about the fungus & Howard's immortality. A part of me wishes that the Doyle family was trying to achieve immortality through the fungi. The revelations were abrupt. It was as if the author took a shortcut to story's climax.

It's also funny that the author calls this a rational explanation for Catalina's worsening mental state. Ghosts seem like a more rational answer than immortality through fungi.

Rereading this volume made me realize the potential that Sakura's character had. Sasuke & Naruto rely on her to some extent, given her immediate mastery of chakra control. It's too bad that Kishimoto's focus on the boys diminishes her necessity down the line...
Part 1 of the series will always be better than the 2nd b/c Kishi's writing is more consistent in Part 1.

All I have to say about Chapter 17 is 'damn' lol
