I’m not close to being halfway through the book & it goes from 0 to 100 so many times. It’s enough to give someone whiplash lol
Marek, the mc, views the world in a childish way, & while he criticizes his dad for his perversions, Marek is just as weird for his intimate views of God & nature.
Interesting characters & descriptive writing.

Everything, down to the grossest thing, is vividly described. It’s still hard to pinpoint an exact plot, but I’m hooked.

GRRM is very descriptive; the violence is vivid and often off putting. It makes me glad that the more violent scenes never made it onto the show.

There're lots of underdeveloped characters, specifically the background characters. They're like cruel NPC's; they're there to emphasize just how messed up the world is... But the emphasis is unnecessary because of the kind of society they live in. It sucks that the main character is the only layered character in the whole novel, though even he (Marcos) does not have the best characterization...

I hate the main character, and I'm sure it has everything to do with how Bazterrica had layered his traits and terrible mentality.
I'm still not a fan of the vague storytelling. It's hard to make out when things happened. The story's set in the future but it seems like the author contradicts herself every now and then.

I'm still not a fan of Bazterrica's writing style, but I assume that most of it has to do with the Spanish-to-English translations...
The book is finally getting more interesting. I'm 18 chapters in and there's finally a semblance of a plot.

😐 descriptive gore but everything else is vague. I can’t tell if this is Bazterrica’s way of making the main character seem more disturbed or if it’s lazy and inconsistent writing.

I just finished the 3rd chapter and now I have to question if there is even a story to follow. So far, there is only an explanation of what's happening in this dystopia and some lazy introductions to characters. This book often reads like a bad pro-vegan campaign. Bazterrica tries very hard to make the book as grotesque as possible. She succeeds in that, but the writing is unimpressive to me...
