The story is picking up again without the new and unnecessary characters. I still think that the story’s peak was the Shibuya Incident arc. The manga should have moved to its final stage right after that.

Unnecessary info-dumping of cursed techniques. These new characters are only going to appear for a short time. There’s no reason to have so much info about them since they’re irrelevant to the plot.
Pacing is too fast; Akutami could wrap up the arc w/o any prolonged fights & the story would stay the same.

A lot of the fights in JJK are so anticlimactic. I want to see high stakes. High-stake fights are what made the Shibuya Incident Arc more thrilling than this current one.

I'm surprised that I'm enjoying this. I will say that the pacing of the story is slow in many parts, but when the action hits, things get more exciting. I also like how natural the world seems; the magic system is easy to understand.

Lt. Rekka grooming Tamaki to do her bidding is one of the most disturbing plot points of this series. It caught me off guard in the anime, and it caught me off guard in the manga. It surprises me when a shonen series includes mature themes like these.

"There were no smiles, and no mention of sweet cakes" (285).
Reading this a second time makes me realize all of the things I missed the first time. GRRM has a way with words; it's interesting how he subtly shows classism. Tobho Mott, the armorer, & Masha, the innkeeper, save their courtesies for their Lords & Ladies, but are uninterested or hostile towards their equals.

I'm surprised by how much I'm enjoying this one. Though the author info-dumps from time to time, a lot of the lore is slowly fed into the story and makes the story grow naturally.

The line, "She didn’t need some sort of compulsion on her side. She already had an inbuilt lie detector" (84) is sort of strange, given that this part is in the fae's point of view. Therefore, how would he know what a lie detector is since it's a "human" tool?

Ch 8 wasn't what I expected. The trauma dumping was sudden & too soon imo. I'm also not interested in Clarke being the key to the world's destruction. Also: "I'm the reason [...] children have nightmares" gives me major "I'm fifty shades of fucked up" flashbacks lmao
So many unnecessary things happened in this chapter.

"He heard his brother sob. The room was so dark he could not see the tears on Robb's face, so he reached out and found his hand. Their fingers twined together" (249).
Moments like these make me remember how different the books are to the series. Richard Madden, or Robb in GoT, made me forget how young Robb was. He was still a child who was forced to grow up too quickly.
