A really challenging bit was the idea that even imagining how God looks is blasphemous.

"The X-Files as apocalypse"; pretty heavy going, and full of references to the book of Revelation.

Qute a lengthy essay on the Prisoner and comparisons between Number 6 and Jesus, apparently intentional by Patrick McGoohan. I now want to watch the whole show even though this book ruined the ending for me.

Doctor Who was full of pagan gods then...

Good so far - I love how he describes his own journey through where Gavrilo Mile Princip lived. Reminds me of HHhH by Laurent Binet.

The book is constantly keeping me guessing. Now that Seb's found the Night Book, I don't think he'll be too pleased.

I have no idea where this is headed really; the sequence with the minefield was funny.

No sign of Peter Duck for a few chapters; getting suspicious of HIM now.

They're already going on about a bomb at Greenwich but must be a different one, unless there are a lot of flashbacks/flash forwards.

Now the House of Silk has shown up, I'm getting excited - and the book's main stair now seems to be Doctor Watson!

I really didn't see that one coming - really dark storyline at the moment

Good start - keeps subverting my expections; not really sure where they're going to go from here.

Pretty good holiday read - I mostly love the Pine/Roper moments.

Enjoying this so far - enjoying the whole idea of them being shipwrecked

The shipwreck has already made the start exciting; hopefully they'll get back to the valley they discovered soon.

The book has changed my perspective of how "original sin" is defined!

I'm starting to get an idea of whose career of evil the title refers to...

Pretty good so far - I like the way that it expands on some of Cormoran Strike's old cases, and I am looking forward to find out who is out for revenge - different from the first two.

Good start to the book, estabishing the characters.

A good example of how we've all forgotten about God in our lives too often.

I like the way the horses have emotions just like human soliders.

I'm enjoying the fact that from a horse's point of view, all the humans' actions look a bit bizarre.

Good so far - I just need to get used to the narrative style, with the horse telling his story

Not surprisingly, he blames Thatcher for a lot of this.

I'm already feeling guilty...

On to the story of his retirement; not surprisingly, the pace has slowed down a lot. The political stuff was a bit heavy.
