You ever read something so depressing you have a dedicated aftercare book beside it on your nightstand?

Fiona is on page 90 of 304 of The Anthropocene Reviewed: Essays on a Human-Centered Planet
"For whatever reason, I've always felt like I /need/ a vice. I don't know whether this feeling is universal, but I have some way down, vibrating part of my subconscious that /needs/ to self-destruct. At least a little bit. [...] I haven’t smoked in more than fifteen years now, but I don’t think I ever quite escaped that cycle. There remains this yearning within my subconscious that cries out for a sacrifice."

Reading this while on the verge of heatstroke, an ectopic heartbeat and the regularly prescribed post-holiday mailase feels right

Fiona is on page 110 of 184 of Pnin
Genuinely one of the few writers that can make me laugh out loud which is high praise from someone who grew up being told when to laugh at comedies (kind of like Pnin with American humour now I think about it). I love Pnin. He is Lynchian in a way with his mewling existence and fascination with everyday objects 💗✨️

a nice gift from 2019 Fiona is that every page I turn of this book a pound of sand falls from the pages onto my lap. Bournemouth Beach welcome to my Glasgow flat, hope you enjoy your stay.

Fiona is on page 111 of 260 of Frankenstein: The 1818 Text
"I cannot describe to you the agony that these reflections inflicted upon me; I tried to dispel them, but sorrow only increased with knowledge. Oh, that I had for ever remained in my native wood, nor known or felt beyond the sensations of hunger, thirst, and heat!"

Mary Shelley was truly 20 years old and questioning if unjustness is solely created through the knowledge of the existence of the makeup of society alone

I'm begging you to be something other than a flimsy plot only set up for several barbie-esque monologues. Female, lesbian cult, I need you to be actually rotted so BAD
