Incredible love story at the end of Act I. 🙂

The language was hard to get down at the start but it’s getting easier as I read — definitely different from my recent reads but not unpleasant. High hopes for the next act!

Everybody raves about their favorite authors, but who is your favorite reader? I’m personally a big fan of Sean’s work.

The Ride of the Rohirrim took place on March 14th Shire-Reckoning which means it is very likely the victory at Minas Tirith happened during the week of my birthday.

Been slumping lately but a good chapter. Pippin is very heroic during the Siege of Gondor — he’s grown a lot.

Not done yet but the Siege of Gondor is shaping up to be a favorite chapter of mine. The dialogue between Gandalf and Denethor about the ring is incredible and probably the richest of the third book thus far.

The elites (Sean Conley) don’t want me to finish this book before the semester starts 🤫

Tolkien really just dropped a love story at the beginning of the third book — hoping Aragorn and Eowyn meet again some day 😢

Pippin, Prince of the Halflings, shares some beauty about hope:

“No, my heart will not yet despair. Gandalf fell and has returned and is with us. We may stand, if only on one leg, or at least be left still upon our knees.” (749)

Sam (seeing a dead man in battle):
“He wondered what the man’s name was and where he came from; and if he was really evil of heart, or what lies or threats had led him on the long march from his home; and if he would not really rather have stayed there in peace…”

Sam seems to have this interesting gift of seeing people as they are — I wonder if this will work out with his suspicion of Gollum.

Get you friends who sing about Elephants outside the gates of Mordor

W/o movies the eye seems very foreign up until now. Seems like a mix of evil will and also the ability of the Ring to physically attract evil. This description makes the eye seem like the feeling of shame.
