Which do yall enjoy more: reading books or having read books?

DARCY PROPOSAL OUT OF LEFT FIELD WOAH

Almost halfway done and my initial thoughts are this:

(1) I can see why it’s a great work. Writing style takes a while but once you get it becomes easier, Austin is clever + witty

(2) It makes me sad how much characters are worried abt wealth and status. Love someone because you love them and want to share life and adventure with them— regardless of whether it seems impractical or how you’ll be perceived.

I’m a sucker for these “reflect on growth” callbacks. I think they’re slightly better in the Lord of the Rings because they’re more “show, don’t tell.”

I like this a lot. Simple line but so beautiful. I feel like it really depicts the feeling of doing something courageous— completely transformed and more equipped for future practice of the virtue.

I have officially retaken the practice SAT R&W section to fulfill my 2023 reading bet 🫡 I have decided not to share my score but Grace can confirm I did indeed take it.

Currently rereading with the study edition commentary. My initial thought was that it would be difficult for the commentary to add to each chapter as I couldn’t really see it as being able to stack up to Therese’s writing— this has shown incorrect.

The study commentary by Fr. Marc Foley, O.C.D. has been so beautiful thus far and adds to the experience of reading a book I already love.

All these Narnia fans talking about “Prince Capsaicin”—like isn’t that the dude who makes peppers taste spicy?

Back by popular demand (my sister Emma wants me to read this)

I’m a third of the way through this book and can’t yet tell if I like it

I genuinely can’t tell if I’m gonna love or hate it

My library borrow of the Hobbit expired before I finished it in the 3 week timeline— so we’re onto the next borrowing.

Currently reading 6 books and have finished none this calendar year. 🙃
