I hadn't realised how much I'd missed a good ol' xianxia story :')

Granted, this book is definitely a page-turner, but as soon as I realised the vampires here are not even as cool as those in Twlight - Twilight!! (I can't believe the metric for vampire coolness is Twilight now) every small thing that I dislike about the writing is grating on me sigh

This reads like it's set in the same universe as addie larue but it's sapphic too omg I'm so so seated😭

I'm kinda scared bcs what do you mean the translator got persuaded into writing this book by a psychic and upon completion the author himself showed up in her dream....??

Reading this book right after Rooney's Normal People, and seeing the protagonist crying with happiness at just being able to succeed at eating 3 meals a day and being active in the morning like "normal people" really yanks the right perspective into focus again...

Every time I read or hear of Yun Dongju in passing, I remember that I'm yet to read an entire collection of his work as opposed to just picking up the poems that were referred to in the work I was originally interested in. But then I'm reminded of how the small but bright flame of his lifespan struggled to stay alit during the japanese occupation of korea, and I am immediately compelled to run away sigh...

Even in a dystopian space opera, Priest covers all fields - military, technology, medical, economy - while prepping them up as overlapping chessboards so it feels like the characters are just playing some sort of 4D chess :') I had to pause reading mid sentence to reread LJH's monologue because it spanned over so much in less than a paragraph whew Priest's world building >>>>>>>>>>

One big reason why I shied away from starting CCP for so long is bcs I can't help but nitpick the science-y parts in sci-fi novels but pipi is so cute man; all her notes are like, listen it's all just fun and vibes here, overlook the technical faults pls and I'm like ok! As long as I get more of LBX and the drama involving him, his real daddy and his space daddy, I can overlook why AU is used to measure distance XD

I keep finding pieces of me in this book, it's scary

I was so exasperated with the development so far I did NOT see that twist coming when it hit me full on in the face and now I'm reeling.
