How much authority do diaspora folks have to delve into the secrets - shameful and otherwise - of their native country? I hope the book is going to be sensitive in its treatment of that aspect...

What IS it about this book that makes it so unputdownable?! I don't like any of the characters (except maybe Ramsa and Baji) and even when plot twists happen, they're not shocking and on some level I'd already expected it to happen. Maybe I just like villains and political intrigue and I'm just waiting to see who survives this mess?

Call me crazy but I think I'm starting to actually *like* the characters now? Wow talk about character development.
